About me

Hey there! My name is Katherine Tromello (TRO-Mello), and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist and certified ADHD therapist based in sunny San Diego, CA, and the Senior Clinical Supervisor at Futsi Therapy. My journey as a therapist began through my own experience as a high-achieving individual with ADHD. My college athletic experience highlighted the need for therapy that addresses the whole being—relationships, emotional patterns, neurotype, and performance—to best support high achievers in their goals.

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

I describe myself as an integrative therapist, blending various theoretical orientations to meet the unique needs of each client. My practice is grounded in psychodynamic, relational, and attachment-focused approaches, meaning I help clients explore their past experiences, build strong relationships, and understand their emotional bonds. I emphasize working with the nervous system and provide Brainspotting, having recently completed Phase One training, and offer equine-assisted psychotherapy. I am LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC affirming.

I offer individual telehealth services throughout California. My expertise lies in working with ADHD, anxiety/depression, executive dysfunction, relationship issues/dynamics (including navigating parenting), and performance issues in sports and work environments. As a queer and highly sensitive person with lived experience of ADHD, I am attuned to the unique challenges faced by my clients.

In therapy, we will explore your own process and past experiences, collaboratively identifying goals to empower you on your journey. I educate my clients on how their brains work, finding ways to engage with the world that are tailored to their personal needs and goals. Committed to continued education, I utilize the most up-to-date, research-informed strategies to help clients develop skills for nervous system regulation and overall well-being.

Therapy should be a place where you feel seen, heard, and supported in a non-judgmental way. My style is highly interactive, providing feedback and skills to help you feel empowered as you navigate your therapy journey. Outside of the therapy room, you can find me taking care of my horse, working out, spending time with my husband and two sons, and being a proud Swiftie! I look forward to hearing from you and embarking on this journey of healing and growth together.

Education

I earned my M.S. in Counseling Psychology/Marriage and Family Therapy, with a specialization in Attachment Theory from California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.

I am a licensed marriage & family therapist in California, holding multiple certifications.

Therapy Speciality

I specialize in working with individuals navigating ADHD, anxiety/depression, executive dysfunction, relationship issues, and performance challenges in sports and work environments. My expertise also extends to supporting couples and teens.

Additionally, I focus on helping those who have experienced trauma, particularly as it relates to living with ADHD or being neurodivergent. I aim to help clients heal and build resilience by addressing their unique experiences and challenges.

I am passionate about supporting high achievers, athletes, parents, queer individuals, and highly sensitive persons, providing a supportive space for exploration and healing.

Each person’s journey is distinct, and I customize my approach to fit your specific needs and goals. My practice integrates emotional regulation, relational and attachment-based therapy, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and brain/body-based modalities. These evidence based approaches can help you understand and change negative thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and connect with your body’s natural ability to heal.

My commitment is to build authentic relationships and offer culturally sensitive care. As a goal-oriented therapist, I strive to empower meaningful changes, improve personal relationships, and help you recognize and build on your strengths. Together, we can address the various challenges and transitions in your life, fostering a deeper connection with yourself and others.
