About us

Heidi Doland, M.A., AMFT #160374

Religious Trauma & Somatic Specialist

Hello and welcome! I’m Heidi Doland, an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist serving clients throughout California via telehealth, with a focus on healing from religious trauma and high-control groups. I am passionate about supporting clients in healing and growing into lives that feel more aligned, meaningful, and connected. As a heart-centered, highly attuned therapist, I prioritize co-creating a relational, emotionally safe space where you can explore your inner and outer worlds with deeper awareness and care. I especially enjoy supporting clients for whom “traditional talk therapy” has not reached the deeper places that require a more holistic, nuanced approach.

Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

My integrative, trauma-informed approach draws on the body’s innate wisdom, weaving together somatic practices, narrative therapy, and IFS-informed parts work to help you move through areas of mental, emotional, and relational pain and stuckness. Together, we focus on expanding your nervous system’s capacity and flexibility so you can meet both the challenges and joys of life with greater resilience. This process includes attuning to your inner voice, cultivating self-compassion, challenging limiting beliefs, and engaging in somatic practices that help build a deep sense of safety and trust within—supporting more authentic, embodied living.

A central part of my work involves healing and re-parenting the inner child, and integrating the parts of yourself that may have been shamed, silenced, or abandoned. Through this process, clients often experience a deeper sense of wholeness, vitality, and connection.

I identify as an empathic, highly sensitive, white, cisgender, straight woman, and fiercely loving mom. As a person who has overcome religious and relational trauma, I know that healing can feel like an act of rebellion, and I honor the courage it takes to listen to the call of your heart and pursue a life of freedom and purpose. Some of my joys outside of the therapy room include baking and sharing delicious food with loved ones, dancing, reading, and spending time in nature. I look forward to hearing from you.

I earned my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from National University.

Prior to that, I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California San Diego.

I am supported by a host of teachers, mentors, and guides to whom I am deeply grateful. Their wisdom informs and inspires my work and encourages my continual growth as a therapist and whole-hearted person in the world.

I specialize in supporting adults navigating anxiety, depression, grief and loss, healing from trauma and C-PTSD, strengthening relationships, developing healthy boundaries, and exploring meaning and purpose. I also bring expertise in supporting those recovering from high-control religious environments.

I have a particular affinity for supporting parents and co-parents navigating the challenges of healing whilst caregiving. Together we weave your healing process into supportive strategies for daily life, creating opportunities for healing through the whole family.

I welcome individual adult clients and couples of all identities and backgrounds, and prioritize your unique identity as deeply meaningful for guiding our work together. At the heart of my practice is an invitation for collaboration, connection, and dialogue with all aspects of who you are, as we explore your unique path of growth and healing.
